Protect Yourself From Jury Duty Identity Theft Scam
Beware of the newest scam for identity theft. A person calls claiming to work for the court, stating that you have failed to report for jury duty and as a result, a warrant has been issued for your arrest. After the victim states they never received the jury duty notification, the scammer will then ask for confidential information for "verification" purposes. Specifically, the scammer will ask for your Social Security number, date of birth, and even may request credit card numbers or other private information needed to steal your identity. In reality, the court will never call you and ask for your social security number or other private information.

Case History - Appellate Experience
Attorney Gronbach's experience with appellate work began with an internship at the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department, where he worked with the Honorable Sondra Miller. In private practice, he has prosecuted and defended over ten appeals in the New York and Connecticut appellate courts. The cases have ranged from commercial disputes to criminal appeals. In one recent appeal in the Connecticut Appellate Court, Attorney Gronbach argued in support of the lower court's decision dismissing plaintiff's commercial claims based on the absence of standing. In another pending appeal, Attorney Gronbach is arguing on behalf of the defendant for an extension of State constitutional law to preclude evidence seized in violation of defendant's Miranda rights.

Some decisions of interest include Coinmach Corp. v. Fordham Hill Owners Corp., 3 A.D.3d 312 (1st Dept. 2004) (appellate division reversed the grant of a preliminary injunction enjoining the termination of a lease and removal of over a hundred laundry machines at one of the largest residential cooperative complexes in New York City); Congregation Yetev Lev D'Satmar, Inc. v. Kahana, 308 A.D.2d 447 (2d Dept. 2003) (an election dispute involving the Satmar Hasidic congregation in which the appellate division overturned the lower court's imposition of judicial sanctions against one of the petitioners); Cinque v. Schieferstein, 5 A.D.3d 198 (1st Dept. 2004) (the appellate division upheld the lower court's grant of summary judgment and imposition of sanctions against plaintiff for filing a frivolous lawsuit).
