Fast Facts On Personal Injury Cases -
What You Need To Know
Personal injury cases include bike accidents, dog bites, snowmobile accidents, and slip and falls, just to name a few. Personal Injury law encompasses negligence or a lack of reasonable care by a party who owes you a duty of care; it is not just about car accidents.

How To Protect Yourself If You Are Injured
If you have been hurt in any kind of accident, consult a personal injury lawyer at your earliest possible opportunity. A Personal Injury attorney can help to determine who is in the wrong, or who is liable for your injuries.

We hope you are never involved in a situation where you need a Personal Injury attorney. However, should an unfortunate accident occur, here are some thoughts to consider:

  • If you are in an accident, call the police. Accident reports can be extremely helpful in documenting events. If you are injured, tell the police immediately.
  • Take pictures of any accident or injuries you have, if you are able to do so.
  • Only you know when you are hurt and require hospitalization or therapy, so be sure to consult with a doctor right away to rule out any very serious injuries.
  • Be vigilant and do not skip your scheduled doctor or physical therapy appointments – many insurance companies will not cover the costs of skipped appointments.
  • After you are injured, hospital bills can be staggering. Do not get overwhelmed. Talk to your lawyer to help you keep the bills from going into collections.
Insurance Coverage that Motorcycle Riders Cannot Afford to Skimp On
Having been a motorcycle rider for all of my adult life, I can tell you one thing, you can never have too much insurance coverage. What I mean by this is the Underinsured Motorist coverage on your motorcycle to compensate you in the event of an accident.

Depending on what studies you look at, the other driver on statistical average is at fault 2/3 of the time, as a result of an accident with a motorcycle driver. Hopefully you will never be in an accident, but if you are, and the other driver is at fault, his auto insurance would be primarily liable to compensate you for your injuries, property damage, and pain and suffering. In Connecticut the law dictates that motor vehicles must carry at least $20,000 individual and $40,000 aggregate in liability insurance for bodily injuries. (For all you riders with a lot of chrome on your ride, property damage is covered separately). What this means is; if a driver is at fault for an accident, the most that one injured person (non fault party) can recover is $20,000 for injuries, and the most all persons who are in the accident and injured can recover from the at fault driver is $40,000 total.
