Traumatic Brain Injury Case: Awarded $11.1 Million

Our client was walking along a state highway one winter morning when he was struck by a privately owned minivan. Seconds after the accident, a State DOT snowplow came through the accident scene and plowed through the forensic evidence. Our client suffered severe traumatic brain damage and was left with only partial use of one hand. The offer prior to trial was $50,000. While the jury was deliberating, the offer went to $6 Million, which was subsequently rejected. The jury returned a liability verdict of 100% negligence on the part of the driver, and 0% negligence on the part of our client. The jury awarded Attorney Moynahan’s client economic and non-economic damages in excess of $11.1 million.

Slip and Fall and Medical Malpractice Case

This case was a slip and fall at Dunkin Donuts with subsequent medical malpractice. The defendant was liable under the original tortfeasor doctrine. Original offer from defense attorneys had been approximately $80,000. Attorney Moynahan settled for just under $1Million and was able to proceed with medical malpractice case.

Elderly Couple Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident: $2.6 Million Award

Represented by Attorney Moynahan, two elderly people were seriously injured by a drunk driver who was driving a company van after working hours. Police found nine empty gin bottles in the company vehicle. Though the driver was not driving in the scope of his employment, both the driver and the company paid a settlement of $2.6 Million.

Jury Awards $850,000 to Plaintiff in Dog Bite Case: One of the Largest Dog Bite Verdicts in Connecticut History

Days before the trial, the Connecticut Appellate court issued an opinion that restricted liability for landlords in Connecticut in dog bite cases. Through Attorney Moynahan, the landlord’s insurance carrier settled with our client for $145,000 and a jury rendered a verdict against the dog owners for $850,000.

Plow Truck Accident at Red Light: Client Awarded $500,000

Our client was rear-ended by a plow truck at a red light. As a result, our client had to endure seven surgeries on her wrists and sustained severe nerve damage. Client’s prior injuries and accidents were too numerous to count. Despite having six prior rear-end accidents, Attorney Moynahan’s client was awarded $500,000 at mediation.

Case Settled on Courthouse Steps for $175,000

Under Attorney Moynahan’s representation, minor injuries and serious liability issues turned a settlement offer of $20,000 to a final settlement of $175,000.

Wrongful Death of Local Minister: $2.35 Million Settlement

Decedent was driving a pick-up truck when he was hit head-on by a 14,000 lb. truck. Though the decedent did not earn a substantial income, he was a church minister. The quality of his character and multiple good works were utilized by Attorney Moynahan to increase the award for loss of life’s enjoyment.
