Negotiated: $387,000 For Benefit of Client
Jane Doe, a 17-year-old high school senior was seriously injured in a multi-motor vehicle accident. The accident occurred when another vehicle disregarded a stop sign and pulled into the lane of traffic for the vehicle in which Ms. Doe was a passenger.
The collision caused Ms. Doe to lose consciousness after she struck her head on and broke the windshield. She was immediately transported to the hospital and thereafter followed up care and treatment over the following several years with various orthopedic doctors and a neurologist. Among the injuries sustained by Ms. Doe in the motor vehicle accident were a traumatic brain injury and permanent injuries to her neck and back. A claim was also made that Ms. Doe developed a seizure disorder as a result of the injuries she sustained. The injuries and disabilities sustained by Ms. Doe in this accident also derailed her plans to go to college and pursue a degree in law as well as her hopes and dreams to pursue a degree in dancing.
The Defendants in this case argued that a second motor vehicle accident in which Ms. Doe was involved several months after the February accident was the cause of her permanent injuries and disabilities. In spite of these efforts, after two full days of mediation in court, $387,500.00 was recovered from the responsible parties on behalf of Ms. Doe.
