David R. Gronbach
David Gronbach recently joined the firm's criminal and civil practice. He was raised in Westchester County, New York and recently moved to Waterbury, CT, where he lives with his wife and two children. David received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany, and received his Juris Doctorate from the Pace University School of Law in White Plains, New York. While at law school, David was the recipient of the Dean's List and Ranking Scholar designations for his high grade point average. He spent a semester studying in London, England and participated in the Gray's Inn Moot Court. He graduated from law school with certifications in environmental and international law.
After internships with the State Department of Environmental Conservation, United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the Appellate Division for the New York Supreme Court, Second Department, David worked at a law firm with offices in both Westchester and Manhattan representing various real estate developers and cooperative/condominium associations in his firm's litigation department. His practice also included the prosecution and defense of various medical malpractice cases, including a complex products liability case involving a manufacturer's allegedly defective vaccine.
David was also involved in a contentious dispute involving the Chasidic Congregation Yetev Lev D'Satmar, based out of Brooklyn, New York. After the death of the Grand Rebbe, an internal struggle for control of the Congregation and its substantial holdings ensued, including the Congregation's schools, cemeteries, charitable organizations, businesses, ect. Background on the momentous case is set forth at 5 Misc. 3d 1023A, 799 N.Y.S.2d 159.
As a litigation associate in New York, David was also responsible for the prosecution and defense of over nine civil appeals in the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First and Second Departments.
After moving to Connecticut, David worked at a Hartford insurance defense law firm defending various hospitals and doctors throughout the state in medical malpractice law suits. He also represented other commercial entities defending premises liability law suits. In addition, David represented Allied Van Lines and North American Van Lines in Connecticut Federal Court.
David is licensed to practice law in Connecticut and New York state courts. He is also admitted in Connecticut Federal Court and the United States Supreme Court.
He is a member of the New York, Connecticut, and Waterbury Bar Associations. He is also a member of the board of Main Street Waterbury, an organization committed to the revitalization of Waterbury's downtown area.
